Large Gold Nuggets
On the same day two Victorian men have found very large gold nuggets, a 1.5kg gold nugget was found at Dunolly and a 2.5kg gold nugget was found near Maryborough.
The 1.5kg nugget was found 1m bellow the surface.
The owner said "I might put it on eBay, if I get the right price I'll probably sell it for between $80,000 and $100,000". That is about 300% to 380% above the current gold price as seen in this gold price per kilo chart.
These are the largest confirmed single gold nuggets found in Australia for several years. The finds where made using new metal dectectors that allow prospectors to find nuggets much further below the surface than was previously possible.
